When enrolling with JCS, you are enrolling in an independent study program which involves the parents to act as the parent-teacher for a portion of the program.
Homestudy occurs each Friday and various other days throughout the school year.
70% of instruction occurs on campus and 30% of instruction is provided by the parent teacher. Please see full calendar for a full list of dates.
Homestudy work is Teacher created & Parent implemented.
What you can expect:
Typically involves 4-6 hours of instruction. This work is separate from any nightly homework that may be assigned and the expectation of daily reading.
A math lesson that has not been previously been taught will be sent home for the parent teacher to implment fully. Teacher guides, answer sheets and videos will be provided to support the teacher.
An ELA (English Arts Lesson) which will focus on writing, spelling, grammar or other classroom specific lessons.
Parents may also choose or be asked to work on Remediation skills or Advanced Work, including any other specific subject or academy projects.
