The JCS Innovation Centre La Mesa, also known as ICLM, was established in 2012 and is currently a Kindergarten through fifth grade program designed for students who are passionate about extending learning beyond the traditional school day and classroom. ICLM integrates core instruction with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) subjects while focusing heavily on Arts instruction. Students at ICLM typically attend courses four days a week and Friday is always a homeschool day.
JCS Innovation Centre La Mesa is dedicated to inspiring creativity, confidence, and competence through artistic expression. Our small class sizes at ICLM allow for personalized instruction, builds student confidence and encourages academic achievement. Students at ICLM participate in core curriculum classes within a self contained classroom, while physical education is completed as a homestudy subject. This allows students to pursue personal interests such as dance, karate and swimming and log their physical education minutes every month. Additionally, as part of our EXPLORE program, students participate in classes such as music appreciation, theater and improv, and STEAM. The arts are highly encouraged at ICLM and integrated into the classroom curriculum. Furthermore, throughout the school year, students at ICLM have an opportunity to participate in a variety of musical and theater showcases as well as two main stage productions.
At ICLM we believe a close connection between home and school is crucial to student performance. We are dedicated to supporting parent teachers and students. We believe that every child is unique, precious, and is worthy of celebrating! We believe that each child deserves a high-quality education from highly-trained and masterful teachers. At Innovation Centre La Mesa, teachers and other staff members make it their mission to come to know each child’s special talents, learning styles, strengths, and needs.

We are a STEAM based school, with a heavy emphasis on the Arts. The mission of JCS Innovation Centre La Mesa is to help young people become avid scientists, readers, writer, mathematicians, historians, engineers, musicians, actors and artists. We encourage students to develop and follow their individual passions. We accomplish this goal through our unique approach to education which treats each child as an individual and honors their talents. ICLM is a resource rich environment which advocates for strong parent - teacher partnerships.
We believe in the importance of respect and practice the art of positive discipline. We are a family at ICLM! Everyone who is part of our family is expected to treat each other with love and kindness! At ICLM, we know how important it is to establish a community where parents are our partners. Parents are co-teachers on home study days, and they serve as classroom volunteers, field-trip guides, PTO members, and assist with community service efforts. Together we nurture the whole child while creating lifelong learners and the leaders of tomorrow.
At ICLM we love STEAM and so do our students! We encourage and integrate STEAM subjects into our curriculum.
